Megan Ross is the author of Milk Fever (uHlanga Press, 2018) a collection of poetry, and several short stories and essays that have gone on to achieve critical acclaim. She is also an editor, journalist and graphic designer, working on both the copy & art aspects of book production for publishers across the African continent. She is a recipient of the Brittle Paper Award for Fiction (2017) and an Alumni Award for the Iceland Writers Retreat in Reykjavik (2016), and a finalist for the Gerald Kraak, Miles Morland, Short Story Day Africa and Short. Sharp Awards.

Megan left her role as features writer at Glamour magazine to pursue a career in freelance writing and journalism in Bangkok, Thailand. After returning to South Africa, her writing has featured in New Frame News, Mail & Guardian, Glamour, Brittle Paper, GQ, Prufrock, and Catapult and several literary publications such as New Coin, New Contrast and the Kalahari Review.

In 2019, she was shortlisted for the Gerald Kraak Award for her non-fiction essay, Monstrous, which was first published in Selves: the Afro-Anthology of Creative Nonfiction (2018). Her essay was later published a second time by Catapult and then included in the third Gerald Kraak Anthology: The Heart of the Matter.

Megan Ross graduated from Rhodes University with a Bachelor of Journalism and Media Studies. In addition to her literary career, she also runs her own visual and communications studio, and has created work for clients as wide ranging as Seven Coaching UK, Small Projects Foundation, Michaelis School of Fine Art and Lil-Lets South Africa. She is also a Moderator on Lil-Let’s Talk, an exciting new platform by the beloved brand devoted to period positivity, empowering menstruators and busting period myths. Megan lives in London, UK, and is represented by Pontas Literary and Film Agency in Barcelona.
